FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

Lane Fire Authority is announcing a testing process to establish a hiring list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. 

 

With headquarters in Veneta, Oregon, Lane Fire Authority provides fire, life safety and EMS services to 45,000 residents over 282 square miles in the scenic Willamette Valley. 

 

Our career and volunteer emergency personnel respond to approximately 6,200 emergency calls per year, 81% of which are for EMS. Line staff are typically on a 48/96 shift schedule and are assigned to either an ambulance or engine based on rotating assignments. There is no residency requirement for line staff.

 

Minimum requirements to apply for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic:

 

  • Oregon Paramedic license or NREMT-P and eligible for reciprocity

      (Applicants who have completed a nationally recognized paramedic program but are            awaiting testing may apply, but must be licensed at time of hire)

  • AHA BLS provider, AHA ACLS provider

  • NFPA Firefighter I

  • NFPA Driver

  • HazMat Operations level

  • ICS 100, 200, 700b, 800

  • Valid Class C Oregon Driver’s License or ability to obtain prior to employment

 

Desirable qualifications which may receive extra points include:

 

  • NFPA Pumper Operator/ NFPA Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump

  • NFPA Firefighter II

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • PALS provider

  • EPC provider

  • AMLS provider

 

The testing process will include an application/resume screening, DMV and criminal background check, an assessment center which will include written, physical, and skill evaluations.  Successful candidates will be invited to a chief’s interview.

 

The list established from this testing process is expected to be valid for a period of 24 months, unless insufficient candidates remain on the list. Once a candidate accepts a conditional job offer they will receive a background check and medical exam including a drug screen. Conditional job offers may be rescinded based on the results.

 

  • Starting salary $66,068

  • 12-month probationary period

  • Eligible for an annual step increase

  • Minimum requirement documentation listed above (Applicants who do not yet have a National or State paramedic license but have completed a Nationally recognized paramedic program shall include a copy of proof of completion along with a brief explanation of their state testing timeline)
