Lane Fire Authority is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic, or if qualified, Engineer/Paramedic. The district intends on hiring two qualified candidates immediately following the testing process, with an estimated start date of August 1st, 2022. The potential to hire additional personnel from this list exists in the future. This position is represented by IAFF Local 851.


About Lane Fire Authority:

Lane Fire Authority is a combination department that provides fire, life safety, and emergency medical service to 45,000 residents over 282 square miles. Our personnel responded to approximately 6,800 calls for service in 2021. Our career staff is made up of 24-line positions and 16-day staff positions, including our chief officers, training division, logistics division, code enforcement and public education, recruitment/retention, and administrative services. Line staff is typically assigned a 48/96 shift schedule operating on an ALS medic unit or engine based on rotating assignments. There is no residency requirement for line staff. 


Lane Fire Authority operates out of 16 stations, 3 of which have career staffing 24/7. Our dedicated volunteers support the remaining 13 stations. In addition, we operate an ALS ambulance service, with our service area extending into several neighboring fire districts and two additional counties.


  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Paramedic program. Please provide a letter from the course instructor verifying your enrollment

  • Oregon Paramedic license or NREMT-P and eligible for reciprocity at time of hire

  • AHA BLS provider

  • AHA ACLS provider

  • Completion of approved Oregon Firefighter I academy. Please provide DPSST NOCC or letter from agency Training Officer

  • NFPA Driver

  • HazMat Operations level

  • ICS 100, 200, 700, 800

  • Valid Class C Oregon Driver’s License or ability to obtain before employment



  • All requirements listed above

  • Salary range for FF/Paramedic: $66,068 - $82,334. Eligible for promotion to engineer rank once qualified

  • Salary range for Engineer/Paramedic: $68,941 - $85,913

  • Eligible for annual step increase

  • LFA and IAFF L851 are currently in contract negotiations with an anticipated increase in wages

Candidates that successfully pass the application packet screening will receive an invitation to move on to the testing process being held the week of June 6th, 2022 by email no later than 5 pm Wednesday, May 25th, 2022. This process will include a written exam, interview panel, skills assessment, and physical agility testing. The top candidates following the testing process will be invited to Chief’s interviews on Friday, June 10th, 2022. Once a candidate accepts a conditional job offer for an opening, they will receive a background check and medical exam, including a drug screen. Conditional job offers may be rescinded based on the results.
